Regine Schumann

Born in 1961, lives and works in Cologne (D)

Exhibitions worldwide in galleries and museums, many grants and awards ( not only DAAD-grant for Italy, German Art-Prize of People’s Banks, Leo Breuer Award)

Regine Schumann mainly works colored, fluorescent acryl. In her acrylic objects she gained her individual, unmistakable artistic idiom, creating color-spaces either abundantly colorful or quiet and restraint. Their appearance changes totally dependent on the surrounding light: in daylight or warm artificial light the colors seem clear and natural, if you turn on a black-light lamp, the works seem to emanate from a different, an artificial world.

In any case the works infatuate, are marked by ample clarity and sensual presence. Regine Schumann features spatial installations of vivid colors; the beholder experiences surreal light-rooms.
